Bed & Breakfast Little Italy in Rome – Rates

Filed under: Rome B&B Little Italy — vanhaminator @ 10:11 am

There are many different types of accomodation in Rome. However, if you want to stay in a hotel in Rome (and especially in the centre of Rome) the rates are extremely expensive and when you want to stay in a hostel you often share your room with other tourists. The camping grounds are cheap, but far away from Rome, and hard to reach at night. A bed and breakfast is therefore a good alternative to the hotels and hostels in Rome, and the B&B Little Italy is one of the best. The guesthouse is central, the rooms are spacious and clean, and the rates (as you can see below) compare favorably to most other B&B’s, guesthouses, hostels and hotels in Rome.

The rates are in Euros, per room.

Rome Bed and Breakfast Little Italy rates
Type of Room Low Season Mid Season High Season
Single 35,00 – 40,00 40,00 – 50,00 45,00 – 65,00
Double 45,00 – 60,00 55,00 – 70,00 60,00 – 80,00
Triple 69,00 – 87,00 87,00 – 99,00 99,00 – 120,00

There are no extra charges of any kind.
During special holidays (Easter, the XMas and New Year period) the rates are slightly higher.
A huge breakfast is included in the rates at the Bed and Breakfast Little Italy.

For inquiries about availability at the Rome B&B Little Italy, either visit the website of our sister B&B, the Chaplin Hostel Rome and ask for information about us, or write directly to the Little Italy B&B.

Stayed at the Little Italy B&B in Rome. It’s run by the same guy (Rene) who runs the Chaplin Hostel. It was a great place to stay, cheap but clean and efficient. We were in a good location for touring (between Termini and the Colesseum). Free breakfast in the morning was perfect for a day of traveling and Rene saved us a bundle with his helpful tips and insights.

I copied this from the Tripadvisor website and thank the person who wrote it.

Bed & Breakfast Little Italy in Rome – Apartment

Filed under: Little Italy B&B, Rome B&B Little Italy, rome, rome hostel — vanhaminator @ 4:25 pm

Apart from the bed & breakfast accommodation the Chaplin Hostel Rome and the B&B Little Italy offer, we also have an apartment for rent, in the same building and on the same floor the Bed and Breakfast Little Italy is located.

The apartment consists of two rooms, a kitchen, and a shower and bathroom. Both rooms have a tv and the kitchen has a fridge, a stove and tea and coffee making facilities. The entire apartment was entirely restructured in September 2007 and the beds and furniture are completely new as well.

The apartment has its own, independent access from the Little Italy and is ideal for families consisting of up to five people. The rooms are both doubles, but one of them has enough space to easily add an extra bed.

The rates at the Little Italy apartment accommodation depend on the time of year and the length of your stay. During the low season, from November 2nd till the end of February the rate will be 100 Euros for 2 people, 120 Euros for 3 people, 150 Euros for 4 people and 180 Euros for 5 people. Breakfast is not included at the Little Italy apartment but there are cooking facilities.

Please note that the above rates are not valid for the holiday season and for special days like Valentine’s day.

For further inquiries you can, for the moment, write to info@littleitalybb.com or visit the website of our other Rome hostel, the Chaplin Bed and Breakfast and fill out the contact form (subject: Little Italy apartment).

Bed & Breakfast Little Italy in Rome – location

Filed under: Little Italy B&B, Rome B&B Little Italy, rome — vanhaminator @ 6:06 pm

Rome has thousands of hotels, Bed and Breakfasts, guesthouses and hostels. Still, since Rome also has millions of tourists visiting it every year, it can be difficult to find accommodation that is cheap, clean, central and safe. The B&B Little Italy is clean, the B&B Little Italy is cheap & the B&B Little Italy is safe. The Little Italy Bed and Breakfast is also close to:

Public transport

The Little Italy Hotel is only 5 minutes away from the Rome Fiumicino Airport Terminal and 10 minutes from Rome Termini, the central railway station itself.
The nearest metro stop is just around the block (get out of the Little Italy’s front door and turn right, and then right, and then right again and you will find the entrance to the Vittorio Emanuele stop (line A) right there). Make sure you buy your ticket beforehand in the newspaper stand beside the entrance: the vending machines downstairs are more often than not out of order.
There is also a line B metro stop, Cavour, at less than 10 minutes’ walking distance. This is important: line A stops running at 9pm, while line B functions till midnight.
Two metro lines obviously cannot cover the entire city of Rome. A number of ATAC local bus lines have their stops near the Little Italy on the Via Merulana: exit from the Little Italy, turn right and take the first left. The first street you cross is the Via Merulana.

Tourist attractions

The area encompassing the Colosseum and the Roman Forum, the Palatino and the Domus Aurea is only a 10 minute walk away from the Little Italy B&B.
Several of Rome’s most famous churches and basilicas are also within easy walking distance: Saint Mary Major lies 2 minutes away, Saint Peter in Chains 7 minutes, and San Clemente only 10 minutes.
Many of Rome’s major museums can be reached on foot: 7 minutes to the Museo Nazionale Romano, 15 minutes to the Capitoline Museums, 12 minutes to the Complesso Vittoriano and only 2 minutes to Museum of Oriental Art.
A 12 minute subway ride will take you from the Little Italy Bed and Breakfast to the Spanish steps, an 18 minute ride will take you to the Vatican Museums, the Sistine Chapel and saint Peter’s Basilica.

Food and drink

Of course you don’t have to worry about breakfast at the B&B Little Italy. The breakfast we serve you will easily keep you going till lunch.
There are many cheap and good, ethnic as well as Italian, restaurants in the area. The ethnic ones are mostly around Piazza Vittorio Emanuele, the Italian ones are more concentrated around the Via Merulana.
There is a supermarket just around the corner and also a small and cheap African store that despite its lack of space somehow always seems to have in stock exactly what you need. The cheapest market in Rome can be found a couple of blocks away from the B&B. For a couple of Euros you can buy yourself a huge picknick in one of the parks in the vicinity of the Little Italy.
The oldest and, according to a lot of people, best gelateria (icecream parlor) is a 5 minute walk from the Bed and Breakfast while the oldest Irish pub, the Fiddler’s Elbow and its slightly younger sister pub, the Druid’s Den, lie a 3 minute walk in the other direction. Slightly further (behind Saint Mary Major) you will find the rowdier Druid’s Den, which also shows the major international football and rugby matches.
San Lorenzo is Rome’s student district and, despite its many pubs and pizzerias, still relatively unknown to tourists. Everything tends to be cheaper than it is in the center and people are a lot friendlier. The area, bordered by beautiful old city walls, can be reached by a 15 minute walk to the other side of Rome Termini (There is a tunnel underneath the tracks).

Parks

In the past, when the fish and vegetable (but the fish easily beat the vegetable smell-wise) was still there, Piazza Vittorio Emanuele was one of the dirtiest and seediest squares in Rome. Then the Fiumicino Airport Terminal was built, some big hotels were put up, the market got moved indoors and the piazza got thoroughly cleaned up, to make it one of the most beautiful little parks in Rome, with children’s playgrounds and often, in the evening, concerts and all kinds of other events. During the summer evenings the most important movies of the year (blockbusters, but also art movies) are shown for a very low price (in 2006, 5 Euros for a double feature). Italian is a must, though, since the movies are usually dubbed.
Tiny Piazza Dante is a smaller, more intimate, park, surrounded by beautiful, tall buildings. It boasts a small children’s playground as well.
Then there is the Parco di Colle Oppio, a 7 minute walk north of Via Ferruccio, with the Domus Aurea and one of the most beautiful views of the Colosseum Rome has to offer.

Other amenities

  • Laundromat nearby
  • Various internet points in the area

If the Bed and Breakfast Little Italy Hotel is full or you would like to be really close to Rome Termini, do not hesitate to try our sister hostel, the Chaplin B&B Rome.

Bed & Breakfast Little Italy Rome – detailed directions

Filed under: Little Italy B&B, Rome B&B Little Italy, rome — vanhaminator @ 9:33 am

Bed and Breakfast Little Italy
Via Ferruccio 30, Apt. 27
00185 Roma
phone: +39 348 8037941
mail: littleitaly@romanhostels.com

The central Bed and Breakfast Little Italy Rome is located between the main railway station Termini with the Fiumicino Airport Terminal and the Colosseum and Roman Forum area. It takes no more than 10 minutes to walk to the B&B from Rome Termini. You can also take a 2 minute metro ride and then a 2 minute walk.

By taxi

As of October 1st, 2006 the rates from the two airports, Fiumicino and Ciampino, ought to be fixed. The official rate from Ciampino Airport, where most of the budget airlines (RyanAir, Sterling, EasyJet) land, to anywhere in the center of Rome (and both the B&B Little Italy Rome and the Hostel Chaplin Bed and Breakfast are definitely in the center of Rome) is 30 Euros.

The official rate from Fiumicino (Leonardo da Vinci Airport) is 40 Euros, but at the moment there is a slight, typical Italian, problem. Taxi drivers based in Rome have to apply the 40€ standard rate, but taxi drivers based in Fiumicino, the small town by the airport, are not subject to this, essentially Roman, law and charge as much as 60 Euros. Make sure, therefore, to ask for the price first.

To get to the Little Italy B&B from Rome Termini, it is not really advisable to take a taxi, since you probably arrive quicker on foot, and also because you could run the risk of being taken on an unasked for “spaghetti tour” of Rome before arriving at the hotel. (If you are not sure, what a spaghetti tour is, just imagine a pot of spaghetti turned upside down over a table.)

From Rome Airport Fiumicino

Cheaper than taking a taxi (and during rush hour likely to also be faster than taking a taxi) is to take the Leonardo Express, a non-stop train from Fiumicino to the Rome Airport Terminal. The price is €11 and the ticket can be bought, at the regular ticket windows, but also from newspaper stands and tobacco shops in the airport and the railway station. When you get off the train you follow the signs for the nearest exit to Via Giolitti. Once outside, you cross the street slightly to the left and go straight ahead into Via Mamiani. At the end of the street you should find a big park (Piazza Vittorio Emanuele) ahead of you. You turn right and then left. The second street on your left is Via Ferruccio. Look for number 30 (just past the SPORT store on the left) and buzz apartment number 27 (Little Italy B&B). Take the lift to the 4th floor and find the Bed and Breakfast Little Italy on your left when you come out of the lift.

From Rome Airport Ciampino

  • Take a bus (COTRAL) to Rome Anagnina and from there a metro (line A) to Vittorio Emanuele. Look for the Via Buonarroti-exit. When you come up you turn right and then left into Via Buonarroti. Via Ferruccio is the first side street on your left.
  • Take one of several coaches bringing you directly to Rome Termini (Via Marsala, across the station, seen from the Little Italy Hotel). There is a lot of competition right now and prices range from 5 to 8 Euros. Sterling have their own company and RyanAir has an agreement with the most expensive company (Terravision) and tries to sell you tickets on the plane and even as early as in some of the departure airports. For your return flights you are advised to take these coaches 3 hours before the expected departure time of your flight.
  • Take a train from Ciampino Airport to the city of Ciampino and from there a train to Rome Termini. Then follow the directions from Termini.

From Rome Termini Station

Look for the Via Giolitti-exit (you should see a MacDonald’s across the road) and turn left when you are outside. Take the first street on your right (Via Gioberti) and walk on till you come to the Basilica of Saint Mary Major. Turn left into Via Carlo Alberto and walk on till the end of the street. You should have a park (piazza Vittorio Emanuele) in front of you. Turn right and take the second street on your left. This is the Via Ferruccio. You will find the Little Italy B&B on your left, just past the big SPORT sign. The address is Via Ferruccio 30, Apt. 27.

Filed under: Little Italy B&B, Rome B&B Little Italy, rome — vanhaminator @ 8:06 pm

Bed & Breakfast Little Italy – the building

The Little Italy B&B is located in a quiet side street between the Piazza Vittorio Emanuele and the Via Merulana, one of Rome’s best-known streets. The building is late 19th century, with a wide entrance, formerly used for horses and wagons, leading to a tiny courtyard. In order to get to the Bed and Breakfast you will have to take the lift to the 4th floor (don’t forget to close all the lift doors or it will refuse to move). You will come onto a small catwalk decorated with plants, which overlooks the courtyard, and you will find the Little Italy Bed and Breakfast Rome on your left.

Bed & Breakfast Little Italy – the rooms

The boutique B&B Little Italy consists of 4 spacious and sunny rooms, sharing 2 toilets and showers. Each room has its own small fridge and television. The rooms are all doubles, but in some of them there is more than enough space to add an extra bed and turn it into a triple. The beds have thick, orthopedic mattrasses tat are not bumpy and do not sag. The rooms are tastefully and elegantly furnished, each having its own unique atmosphere, created by carefully choosing the right curtain colors and matching bed covers.

There is central heating in all of the rooms and in winter we provide extra blankets in case you are still cold. The B&B is cleaned on a daily basis and big, fresh, fluffy towels are provided every day.

Bed & Breakfast Little Italy – Breakfast

Breakfast is served from 8am till 10am, but if you have to leave before that in order to catch an early flight or to try and avoid the queues at the Vatican Museums we will make sure there will be some food waiting for you when you get up. There is bread, fresh from the baker every morning, with butter and a choice of jams and marmalades and different kinds of cereal to choose from. Coffee or tea as much as you want and 4 different fruit juices.

There are coffee and tea making facilities all day.

Bed & Breakfast Little Italy – makes life easy
